Beatmania sort of has some relation to Guitar Hero in terms of gameplay, but Guitar Hero has different gameplay aesthetics than Beatmania (examples: Controllers, Song lists, GUI, etc.). So to put it short, it sort of has some relation to Guitar Hero, but just to let you know, if you consider Beatmania is a rip off of Guitar Hero, keep in mind that Beatmania was made before Guitar Hero (The series was started back in 1997, way before Guitar Hero hit the scene in 2004).
